What is a Goniophotometer used for

In recent years, semiconductor lighting technology has developed rapidly, and subsequently semiconductor lighting lamps have also been greatly developed. This requires corresponding testing theory, testing technology, testing equipment, and testing standards to test and evaluate emerging new products.

Vertical Goniophotometer is the core testing equipment of lighting fixtures. It is usually divided into two types, one is the lamp-turning Goniophotometer represented by the German L brand, and the other is the mirror-turning Goniophotometer which is LISUN brand.

The lamp-turning goniophotometer is mainly used to detect traditional lighting fixtures. The light output of the lamp is required to be insensitive to temperature changes and insensitive to changes in posture; if the luminous flux of the lamp changes greatly with the change of temperature or posture, this type Goniophotometer is not applicable. Semiconductor lighting products are very sensitive to temperature and obviously cannot be measured with a lamp-turning goniophotometer.

The mirror-rotating goniophotometer fixes the luminaire at the center of the measuring sphere. During the whole measurement process, the posture of the luminaire will not change, the rotation angle is only 360º, and the height is unchanged, so it can meet all types of luminaire measurements. Especially for semiconductor lighting fixtures must use this type of goniophotometer according to the requirements of the LM-79 Standard.
