Product No: SMT-4001
The IEC 61010-1:2021 Clause 6.2.3 4.0mm Hazardous Live Parts Probe is a precision safety tool designed to detect accessible hazardous live components in electrical, electronic, and medical equipment—such as lab analyzers, medical monitors, and industrial control panels. Its 4mm-diameter conductive stainless steel probe targets narrow gaps (e.g., terminal slots, vent seams) that larger tools can’t reach, while an insulated, heat-resistant handle protects testers from electric shock. It applies a controlled 1N thrust to mimic light accidental contact, ensuring compliance with global safety standards. Durable and reliable, it’s critical for manufacturers to prevent electric shock risks and validate product safety for global markets.
NOTE: Please note SMT-4001 is without cable. If you want to test with Low-voltage Test Supply LISUN model is SMT-529CV, you may choose SMT-4001C with cables.
Specifications:
Tool Type: 4.0mm Hazardous Live Parts Probe (for narrow-gap live-part accessibility testing)
Probe Material: Stainless steel
Handle Material: Nylon
Key Dimensions:
– Rod length: 100 mm
– Rod diameter: 4 mm
– Handle diameter: 10 mm
– Handle length: 100 mm
Applied Thrust: 1N ± 0.1N (simulates light accidental contact; standard for live-part accessibility testing)
Core Function: Detects accessible hazardous live parts in narrow equipment gaps; verifies compliance with electric shock protection standards
Test Procedures:
1. Inspect the probe for damage (bent tip, cracked insulation, poor conductivity) and connect to a live-part detection instrument.
2. Power on the equipment under test (EUT) and set it to normal operating mode.
3. Hold the insulated handle and align the 4.0mm probe tip with narrow EUT gaps (e.g., terminal slots, vent seams).
4. Insert the probe into the gap with a steady 1N thrust—stop when resistance is felt or fully inserted.
5. Check the detection instrument for signals (indicating contact with live parts).
6. Record results: Pass if no contact; Fail if live parts are accessible.
Applications:
1. Testing narrow terminal slots in laboratory pH meters (per IEC 61010-1:2021 Figure 6.2.3) to block live-part access.
2. Verifying vent seams in medical patient monitors (compliant with UL 60601-1:2023) to prevent electric shock.
3. Checking control panel gaps in industrial temperature controllers (per IEC 60335-1:2020) for live-component exposure.
4. Quality control for small IT equipment (e.g., router power ports) during manufacturing.
5. Post-production testing of portable medical devices (e.g., glucose meters) to meet global safety regulations.
