The Salt Spray Test Chamber is an environmental test equipment that evaluates the corrosion resistance of products or metal materials by artificially simulating salt spray environmental conditions. The chloride concentration in the salt spray environment can be several or tens of times the salt spray content of the general natural environment, which greatly increases the corrosion rate. The salt spray testing of the product can greatly shorten the time to obtain the result. For example, if a product is tested in a natural exposure environment, it may take 1 year for its corrosion, while a test in salt spray test chamber may take as long as 24 hours to obtain similar results.
Different products, different countries have different testing requirements. For example, for waterproof products of small household appliances, the exposed hardware is generally required test for 24 hours, and the coating test is generally performed for tens of hours to hundreds of hours, the terminal is generally performed for 24 hours, and some need 48 hours, it also depending on customer requirements. The salt spray test time of a specific product should be determined according to the standard requirements of the tested covering layer or product. If there is no standard, it can be decided through negotiation between the parties concerned. Generally recommended test time is: 2, 4, 6, 8, 24, 48, 72, 96, 144, 168, 240, 480, 720h, 1000h. And during the specified test period, spraying shall not be interrupted. Only when it is necessary to observe the sample for a short time, can the salt spray box be opened. If the end of the test depends on the time when corrosion begins, the specimens need to be checked frequently.
